Markets

Balqon Corporation has developed technologies to pioneer markets for transportation solutions in both on-highway and off-highway markets for heavy duty trucks, tractors and buses.  Our Company was the first to develop lithium battery powered all electric Class 8 trucks and recreational vehicles. We have delivered products to a global customer base in transportation, industrial and energy storage markets.

Transportation Market

Our products include completed vehicles such as XE30 and Mule for inner city and short haul cargo applications.  We also sell completed drive systems (motor, transmission, inverters, batteries and charging systems) to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) globally for light, medium, and heavy duty applications.

Industrial Market

We market our product XE20 for material handling applications for loads up to 30 tons to marine terminals, warehouses, industrial plants, rail yards and military facilities.  We also market our drive systems to forklift companies for 10 ton and higher capacity for indoor and outdoor applications.  Our lithium battery packs are marketed to users of pallet jacks, ground support equipment manufacturers to replace lead acid battery packs, ranging in voltage from 24VDC to 120VDC systems.

Energy Storage Market

In 2011 we signed an exclusive distribution agreement with Winston Battery Company a leading developer of lithium iron phosphate rare earth battery.  Our energy storage systems range from 20 kilowatt systems for residential markets to 3 megawatt systems for load shaving and energy storage applications in renewable energy markets, such as solar, wind and geothermal.  All our energy storage products include our proprietary battery management systems and charging systems.
